Tavi & Friends is a 501c3
non-profit organization established to help special animals with unique challenges through public awareness, training, TTouch
and other holistic support, rescue, foster care and adoption.
Through our TTouch in Rescue™
Program, we work in partnership with other animal welfare organizations using TTouch for training and wellness to establish
bonds with the homeless or abandoned animals who come into shelters, reduce their stress and anxiety levels, work through
behavioral issues, and enhance wellness or assist recovery. We also train volunteers how to apply TTouch in the
shelter environment to help the animals on a day-to-day basis. Our TTouch for Adopters™ Program provides pet owners with the basics of this
easy to learn method to help with socialization; introduction to a new home and/or resident pets and family; and
behavioral or wellness issues.
While we continue to help these special animals through TTouch and rescue efforts, we are also dedicated to the rescue
and re-homing of the American Curl cat.
American Curl Rescue & Re-Homing... We love this delightfully wonderful rare breed of cat -- so named for the unique backward
curl to the ears -- and are committed to helping in the rescue and placement of homeless, abandoned, surrendered or abused
American Curls. Unhappily, this relatively new breed has had an increasing number of Curls in need of re-homing. Our commitment
to this breed includes bringing awareness to the public and rescue community about identifying Curls, as well. (And, yes,
we are also proud caretakers of several American Curls -- who Tavi adored!) Please contact us if you have questions
about this intelligent, playful, lovable cat.
Look for more about this enchanting breed in upcoming issues of eTails
& Paws.

Tavi was my fearless little
cat, named after Kipling's indomitable mongoose, Rikki-Tikki-Tavi. Throughout my years of rescuing stray
cats and dogs, while she was still with me, Tavi was by my side helping to rehabilitate and socialize each one, taking all
under her wing and even teaching frightened ferals that adjusting to a safe home life is far better than being on the street.
Happily (and sadly) we would see these animals off to wonderful new homes. Tavi herself became a "special-needs" kitty when
she developed cancer, but I was blessed with over 15 years of life with Tavi and she inspired us all to ensure these special
animals have a chance at happiness and a forever home.
